Finding a Mountain View Home
Saturday, June 25, 2005We've been living in a three bedroom home in a neighborhood we like. We could fix up the basement and probably be very happy. But our neighborhood has some good mountain views.
There's a house for sale a couple blocks away that has a nice view of the mountains and is on a greenbelt. It's going for $60,000 more than our house is worth. But it also has a nice deck off the back. We haven't been in the house, and we hear there is some heaving of the slab in the basement. How do we decide whether or not to buy a different house? Are the up sides greater than the downsides?
We might be able to fix the basement, and we might be able to fix up things in a manner we'd like elsewhere in the house. It might be worth the chance. We haven't even visited the house yet. Right now it's just a dream. We'll see.
